Bangkok: Thai postal workers expressed their gratitude to Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul after he utilized his private plane to deliver a heart for transplantation as part of the "Heart with Wings" initiative, despite challenging weather conditions.
According to Thai News Agency, the heartfelt moment took place during the opening ceremony of the DE Digital Shield Forum, an event aimed at combating online threats. As Prime Minister Anutin, who also serves as the Minister of Interior, toured various booths at the event, he was approached by Mr. Anucha Chanprom, Assistant Director of the Metropolitan Post Office 3. Mr. Anucha knelt and presented a garland to the Prime Minister, expressing his deep appreciation for the life-saving delivery.
Mr. Anucha revealed that he was a heart transplant recipient, having received a heart through the "Heart with Wings" mission. This initiative involved the Prime Minister braving severe weather to ensure the organ's timely delivery. Mr. Anucha had long sought an opportunity to personally thank Mr. Anutin, which he finally accomplished at the event.
The Prime Minister recounted the mission from 2018, highlighting the challenging conditions they faced when flying to Udon Thani province to retrieve the heart. He urged Mr. Anucha to take good care of his health and avoid falling ill again.
The "Heart with Wings" mission, spearheaded by Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, involves the use of his private aircraft to facilitate the rapid transport of medical teams and organs across provinces. This volunteer endeavor, which began around 2014, aims to save lives by ensuring timely organ transplants for critically ill patients in Bangkok.
