Bangkok: The unexpected death of Thai YouTuber and traveler "Hlun Solo" in a Tbilisi hotel has prompted Georgian authorities to launch an investigation under Section 115 of the Criminal Code. This section addresses actions that might lead to suicide or attempted suicide, raising questions about its interpretation and implications.
According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong Phiwphan, Deputy Inspector General of the National Police and spokesperson for the National Police Office, clarified that Section 115 serves as a framework for the investigation and does not yet provide a conclusion regarding Hlun Solo's cause of death. He emphasized that the investigation aims to explore all circumstances surrounding the death, including potential involvement from other parties. For now, the results of the autopsy and forensic analysis conducted by Georgian authorities are eagerly awaited.
The investigation will involve examining various pieces of evidence, such as the autopsy report, forensic evidence, and any electronic devices or CCTV footage from the hotel. Thai authorities, led by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Royal Thai Police, are prepared to assist by providing relevant information, including immigration records of the deceased. Coordination efforts with Georgian police are ongoing, highlighting Thailand's commitment to full cooperation through Interpol.
Pol. Gen. Trairong also noted that the process of extradition and investigation follows standard procedures, and any conclusions about the case will only be drawn once the Georgian authorities complete their judicial process. He refrained from drawing parallels with a previous case involving the deaths of two foreigners in Tbilisi, reiterating the need to await the results of the ongoing investigation.
