Bangkok: A motorcycle taxi driver narrowly escaped a potentially fatal accident when his parked motorcycle was struck and dragged by a speeding sedan for over 100 meters on Chaeng Wattana Road. The incident unfolded in front of a movie theater in the Pak Kret area, drawing immediate attention from local authorities.
According to Thai News Agency, the event occurred when a young man driving a white Honda City sedan lost control at a curve, collided with a median, and subsequently crashed into a parked blue Honda Wave motorcycle. The car, unable to stop, dragged the motorcycle along the road until it halted in front of the theater. Mr. Surin, 56, the motorcycle's owner, who was waiting for passengers at the nearby taxi stand, witnessed the entire incident and considered himself fortunate not to have been on the bike at the time of the crash.
Pak Kret Police Station received the report and arrived at the scene where Mr. Itthiboon, 44, the driver of the sedan, appeared intoxicated. After the crash, Mr. Itthiboon attempted to call a friend to falsely claim responsibility for the accident. However, police officers, noticing inconsistencies in their statements, interrogated the individuals. Eventually, Mr. Itthiboon confessed to driving the vehicle. A subsequent breathalyzer test showed a blood alcohol level of 155 milligrams per cent.
CCTV footage from Pak Kret Police Station captured the entire sequence of events, from Mr. Itthiboon's loss of control and the resulting crash, to his attempt to remove the motorcycle from the front of his car. The evidence provided by the cameras was irrefutable, confirming Mr. Itthiboon's involvement in the incident.
