Bangkok: The Minister of Tourism apologized to the family of the Russian victim, affirming that the government is pursuing the case fully and enhancing security measures throughout Thailand.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Surasak Panjaroenvorakul, Minister of Tourism and Sports, expressed his deepest condolences to the family of the Russian national who died in the crime in Chonburi province. He affirmed that the Thai government takes this case very seriously and has instructed the Tourist Police Division and relevant local police to integrate their work with the Royal Thai Police and all related agencies, expedite the investigation, and provide full support and assistance to the bereaved family. He also announced coordination with the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Thailand, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the Tourist Police, and local agencies to facilitate assistance, information sharing, and all necessary support for the family.
Furthermore, instructions have been given to intensify security measures in tourist areas nationwide, including increasing personnel, patrolling high-risk areas, inspecting and monitoring key locations, integrating security information between agencies, and preparing for timely assistance to tourists to prevent similar incidents from recurring. It was emphasized that although this incident was a specific criminal case, the Thai government will use the facts and lessons learned from this event to continuously improve security measures, and will enforce the law rigorously without leniency towards offenders. This is to build confidence among tourists worldwide that Thailand remains a destination that prioritizes the safety, rights, and well-being of all tourists above all else.
