Hanoi: Prime Minister pays a courtesy call on the President of Vietnam, announces the elevation of relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership, stresses the maintenance of continuous discussions, drives bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
According to Thai News Agency, today at 3:00 p.m. at the Special Reception Room, Presidential Palace of Vietnam, Hanoi, Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Luong Cuong, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on the occasion of her official visit to Vietnam.
Both sides discussed constructively on a wide range of issues and expressed their mutual intention to further enhance bilateral cooperation in all dimensions, reflecting mutual trust as important partners in Southeast Asia, especially in the Mekong sub-region.
The Vietnamese Prime Minister and President welcomed the success of Thailand and Vietnam in announcing the elevation of their relationship to a 'Comprehensive Strategic Partnership', which is an important development in the relationship between the two countries, and affirmed their intention to drive cooperation in all areas to achieve more tangible results. They also praised the closeness of the peoples of the two countries, which is an important foundation of the relationship between the states.
Both sides also agreed on the need to enhance mutual trust and maintain regular high-level contacts, especially between the defense ministries and armies of the two countries, and supported the establishment of a High-Level Committee (HLC) mechanism to serve as a platform to drive more effective security cooperation, including information exchange and cooperation in cyber security, defense industry development, prevention and suppression of drugs, transnational crimes, and jointly addressing online scams affecting the people of both countries.
In terms of economic cooperation, both sides have continuously emphasized increasing the value of trade and investment between each other. They agreed to push for the goal of trade of 25 billion US dollars in the near future by reducing trade barriers, facilitating customs procedures and connecting supply chains in target industries. They also reaffirmed their support for each other's investment.
Meanwhile, Thailand welcomes investment from Vietnamese private sector in Thailand to expand cooperation and fully utilize the value chain together.
The two leaders welcomed the closeness of the people of Thailand and Vietnam, especially the Vietnamese-Thai community in the northeast of Thailand, which has served as a powerful bridge connecting the two countries, and promoted tourism and local economic development through cooperation between provinces of Thailand and Vietnam. Joint public relations activities such as roadshows and business matching will be organized between more than 20 pairs of partner cities to promote people-to-people exchanges and expand economic opportunities for communities in both countries comprehensively.
At the end, both sides agreed to maintain continuous dialogue at both bilateral and multilateral levels to drive cooperation in line with the changing global context, and reaffirmed their determination to work together to enhance peace, stability and prosperity in the region.
