Bangkok: Wang Thonglang police raided a ketamine party frequented by wealthy Myanmar nationals, arresting 11 foreigners, including one under 18, and pressing multiple charges against the owner of the establishment.
According to Thai News Agency, police officers from the vice and drug suppression unit of Wang Thonglang Police Station, under the direction of Pol. Col. Jesada Yangnok, Superintendent of Wang Thonglang Police Station, Pol. Lt. Col. Pavee Manmuang, Deputy Superintendent of Wang Thonglang Police Station, Pol. Lt. Col. Thianphat Klachai, Inspector of Wang Thonglang Police Station, and Pol. Lt. Wongsakorn Chanphakdee, Deputy Inspector, raided an unmarked building on Pradit Manutham 2 Road, Phlapphla Subdistrict, Wang Thonglang District, Bangkok, following intelligence that it was being used as an illegal entertainment venue and a place for drug use.
The search resulted in the arrest of 12 suspects, including 11 Myanmar nationals (one of whom was under 18) and one Thai male manager of the establishment. Seized items included approximately 0.583 grams of a Category 2 psychotropic substance (ketamine), drug paraphernalia, beer, and receipts for food and drinks. During the raid, loud music was playing inside the building, and the patrons were still gathered, using drugs and dancing.
The investigation revealed that 11 Myanmar nationals, one of whom was a minor under 18 years old, were charged with illegally possessing a Category 2 psychotropic substance (ketamine). Some of the Myanmar nationals were also found not to be carrying passports as required by law.
The Thai managers of the establishment are facing multiple charges, including condoning or neglecting to prevent drug-related offenses on the premises, allowing or neglecting to prevent minors under 18 from using the services, operating an establishment without a license, operating beyond legally permitted hours, selling alcohol without a license, and selling alcohol beyond legally permitted hours.
Initially, police officers from Wang Thonglang Police Station took the suspects and seized evidence to the investigating officer at Wang Thonglang Police Station for legal proceedings. They also coordinated with relevant agencies to check the immigration status of each foreign suspect and proceed with legal action accordingly.
