Bangkok: The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) has updated its FAQ section to reflect new adjustments aimed at attracting new economy stocks, both Thai and foreign, effective September 11, 2026. These adjustments include special channels for BOI-EEC listings and modifications to align the silent period with international standards.
According to Thai News Agency, the SET issued a circular to listed companies and financial advisors detailing revisions to its listing criteria. These revisions are designed to attract high-potential companies to the SET and will take effect on September 11, 2026. The criteria for companies operating in specified industry groups have been revised to enhance the attractiveness of fundraising and listing on the SET. This includes the establishment of a special track to support companies receiving promotion from the Board of Investment (BOI) and the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC).
The SET has also adjusted the proportion of initial public offerings (IPOs) for foreign companies that have already raised capital and are listed on foreign stock exchanges. This adjustment aims to align with the fundraising needs of these companies while ensuring adequate trading volume and liquidity for the shares on the Thai stock exchange. Foreign companies listed in what are termed "Urecognized Countries" will continue to meet the same requirements as Thai companies, including quality, financial standing, performance, free float, and disclosure of information according to current criteria.
Furthermore, the terms and conditions regarding the prohibition of selling shares after listing on the stock exchange, known as the Silent Period, have been revised. The SET is aligning both the proportion and duration of the Silent Period with international standards while maintaining the requirement for strategic shareholders to continuously hold shares in the company for an appropriate period to build investor confidence.
The SET has made these updates available on its website, www.set.or.th, under the headings "Rules and Regulations," "Company Criteria," "Issuer Criteria," and "Simplified Regulations."
