Bangkok: The Thai men's national volleyball team secured a thrilling victory over Chinese Taipei, advancing to the quarterfinals of the Asian Championship after a hard-fought 3-2 sets win. Clinching the Group C title, the team is now set to face Australia in the next round.According to Thai News Agency, in the third and final match of Group C at the AVC Men's Volleyball Continental Championship 2026, held at the Kitakyushu Indoor Sports Center in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, the Thai team, ranked 50th globally, showcased their prowess against the 53rd-ranked Chinese Taipei team. Building on their momentum from earlier matches, where they bested both Qatar and South Korea, the Thai squad demonstrated remarkable resilience and skill.Led by prominent players such as Napadech Pinijdee, Anuchit Pakdeekaew, and Chaiwat Thungkam, the team edged past Chinese Taipei with set scores of 25-23, 22-25, 23-25, 25-22, and 15-10. This victory not only marked their third consecutive win but also earned them an additional 2 points, culminating in a total of 7 points. As group leaders, they finished second overall in the tournament standings.Looking ahead, the Thai team is set to encounter Australia, ranked 42nd in the world, in the quarterfinals scheduled for September 10-11.
