Bangkok: Yamaha Thailand Racing Team has triumphantly returned to Thailand after competing in Round 5 of the Asian Championship in Malaysia, securing their 8th Asian Championship title. Mr. Ukrit Pakvivat, Senior Vice President of Commercial Planning and Marketing at Thai Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd., welcomed the team led by Mr. Veerapong Thanakitjanon, General Manager of Motorsports, acknowledging their success in the Asia Production 250cc class at the Asian Road Racing Championship in Malaysia.
According to Thai News Agency, the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship 2026, Round 5, concluded last weekend at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. The Yamaha Thailand Racing Team's riders delivered remarkable performances. "Idea" Kritphat Khueankham, a rising star in the Asia Production 250cc class with a YAMAHA YZF-R3 race bike, secured first place in both races. He achieved a 79-point lead over the second-place rider, clinching the 2026 championship with one race remaining and marking Thai Yamaha Motor's eighth Asian championship title.
In the SuperSport 600cc class, veteran Thai rider Anupap Samul, competing with a Yamaha YZF-R6, maintained his consistent form by securing second and third place on the podium in both races. He is now just 3 points behind Kasma Daniel Bin Kasmayudin, the 2025 Yamaha champion from Malaysia, leaving the title race to be decided in the final race in Thailand.
"Tee" Anupap Samul is preparing to regain his fitness to compete for the Asian SuperSport 600cc championship in front of Thai motorsport fans at the final race of the season at Chang International Circuit in Buriram.
